Hilly Letter on COVID-19

The CIBA and Hilly Hundred leadership is committed to keeping our riders, volunteers, their families, and our communities safe and updated in this rapidly changing environment. To that end, we wanted to send a communication about the 2020 Hilly Hundred Weekend.

We have been carefully monitoring several sources about COVID-19 including Governor Holcomb/the state of Indiana, the WHO, CDC, and looking to governing bodies like USA Cycling. We are hoping the situation improves considerably over the summer and are still planning on holding the 2020 Hilly Hundred Weekend on October 16, 17, and 18th.

The CIBA and Hilly Hundred boards will watch the situation daily and will keep your health and safety as well as that of the surrounding communities in the forefront of our decision making. We will continue to follow evidence-informed sources and observe the guidelines of local, state and federal bodies and make decisions with the safety and health of our riders, volunteers, and community in mind. We will make sure all those interested in and registered for the Hilly know of an decisions well in advance of the event. If the health situation warrants cancelling the 2020 Hilly Hundred Weekend, all registrations for the 2020 event will be transferred to the 2021 event.

We encourage you to continue to find ways to be physically active and support your community. Take this time to reach out to your community and see if anyone needs help going to the grocery or running errands or picking up things they need. We are all going to experience extraordinary levels of isolation so even a quick text or call to see how someone is doing would be appreciated. Or you can share sweaty photos on your trainer or out on a solitary ride.

CIBA has been a leader in the bicycling community for many years and these challenging times are no different. We will always strive to do what’s in the best interest of our members and the central Indiana bicycling community.
