(Sept. 16: Travel to Ellettsville)

Please allow additional drive time to the Hilly this year.  Since the State has pushed for quick completion of the I-69/SR 37 project, all North and South bound traffic is restricted to a total of two lanes for several miles south of Martinsville leading to delays of an hour or more on SR 37 and Old 37, particularly during the evening commute.  The recommended alternate routes are to take SR 67 to SR 231 to Spencer Indiana and approach Ellettsville from the East on SR 46, or to take I-65 south to the Columbus exit and take SR 46 West through Nashville and Bloomington to get to Ellettsville.  This may be aggravated by the fact that IU has now scheduled a home football game with Charleston the same weekend as the Hilly.

Those of you still interested in volunteering, there are still some options for you get a free registration by riding to the Rest Stop, help us man the Rest Stop for your volunteer hours, and then be released to finish the Hilly that day.

We look forward to seeing all of you at the 50th Hilly in 3 short weeks!

Thanks,

Mark

(Hurricane Irma -Sept. 12, 2017)

Hurricane Irma's effects may extend as far as the Hilly this year. Our past Executive Director has pointed out that IU is looking at scheduling a home game for October 7th.  What this means to you is a strong recommendation to confirm any hotel reservations you may need as soon as possible.

Thank you - we look forward to seeing you at the 50th.

(Sept. 9, 2017)

The good news for many of you is that the Hilly is returning to the east side of I-69 this year.  However, in order to keep everyone safe and provide everyone lunch, those of you who are doing the short route on Sunday will still be riding a 43 mile route, and the normal route will be almost 56 miles.  This will allow riders to climb Bean Blossom Hill before returning to lunch and everyone will get to experience new roads.  I will also mention that we have a partnership with Upland Brewery and we expect for you to see them on the route shortly before the finish and with special offerings Friday night.

And for those coming from the north, you may need to plan extra time for the drive to Ellettsville.  The I-69 construction will be making all north and south bound traffic single line which will go up the current northbound lanes of SR 37 for several miles starting a few miles south of Martinsville.  Particularly those who come from the NorthWest may want to consider coming down SR 67 through Spencer, Indiana and approaching Elletsville from the NorthWest.

We look forward to seeing you in a few short weeks!

Thanks,

Mark

50th Hilly participants and volunteers,

Hilly Online registration is now open for participants and for those who also choose to volunteer.  We should have the paper registration forms ready shortly.  Part of what makes the Hilly Hundred successful are the hundreds of volunteers who make it happen.  We welcome your help again in 2017!  We would also like to remind you that despite the ongoing construction of I-69, we will finally be bringing a route back across I-69 through part of Morgan Monroe State Forest.  We look forward to seeing you in 2017!

(Updated October 26, 2016)
We had another successful Hilly Hundred in 2016 with three dry days and beautiful sunshine all through the event! We appreciate everyone who made this event a success.  The Directors are a critical group that orchestrate the event as a whole, but without the volunteers, we would not have had the excellent support the provided again this year.   But even more important are all of you who chose to attend the event this year and enjoy all that we had put together!  Thank you so much for being a part of this latest incarnation of the Hilly Hundred.  You are more than welcome to send an email to me at mkbettinger@comcast.net.  You should also contact me for your items that were left in our Lost+Found.  We will be sending out a survey to see what you liked and what we can improve for the 50th Hilly.  We look forward to seeing you again next year for the weekend of October 6th, 7th, and 8th, 2017 for another awesome event!

Many of you are interested in Hilly Merchandise and we do still have a number of items available.  I will have a complete list by Halloween weekend.  If you send me an email with exactly the items you're looking for, including size, I will let you know if it's still available and how to arrange payment, Any checks would be made out to Hilly Hundred Weekend and would be sent to 441 Billie Lane, Indianapolis, IN, 46260.  We will also be making Hilly merchandise available through the CIBA Store, http://cibaride.org/CIBA-Store and we expect that to be available around the Halloween weekend as well. Thank you for your interest in the Hilly, and we hope to see you again in 2017.
